Meet Eric Freeman
Host/Producer, The Unseen Paranormal Podcast
Where are you from and what’s your background?
I am a Fairview native and still live in Fairview. I have been curious about the paranormal as long as I can remember. I grew up in a family that has always been open and honest about the paranormal and they frequently speak about their own personal experiences. I have had many experiences in my own home and have had things happen working in the medical field that I can’t explain.
As a teen, my friends and I would do our own “investigations” with a tape recorder and a camcorder trying to capture any evidence to prove that what we were experiencing was real. I decided to start my own podcast after reconnecting with a high school friend and helped her produce her podcast. I enjoy talking to my guests and seeing different perspectives on the paranormal phenomena.
I have worked in various areas of EMS from the ambulance to the ER in my 15 years as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician. I have been a karaoke and wedding DJ for 20 years, as well as an audio engineer.
How long have you been podcasting?
I started The Unseen Paranormal Podcast in July and have 13 episodes so far. I’ve been in the podcasting world for the past 4 years in various roles.
What was the pivotal moment that made you decide to follow your path in podcasting?
Producing a friends show and guest hosting a few times.
What can you tell us about your process?
Producing new, interesting content weekly is a full time job of emails and calls to book various guests. I start show prep for each guest by researching the person and the topic we will be discussing. I write an intro based on the guest background to tell my audience what to expect from the episode, show notes for quick reference, and various questions. Once the episode is recorded, then comes the editing process to get rid of any bloopers (or mostly my own rambling) and to add the intro and outro music, any advertisements, and voice overs. The episode is then uploaded and scheduled to be published on all major podcasting platforms through my podcast host site. Then comes the constant advertising and self promotion on social media, show website, and by word of mouth over the course of the next week until it’s time to rinse and repeat for the next show.
Tell us about your current and upcoming projects.
I am proud to say that with only 11 episodes, I have charted in the top 200 in the history category and the top 100 in Kenya, of all places! The Unseen Paranormal Podcast will be a featured show for the upcoming virtual convention Indie Pods United and will be live streaming. More details to come. My goal is to grow my show with higher profile guests and entertain and inform as many listeners as I can.
What would you like to see happen in Fairview to build a better art community?
To build a better art community, I believe we need to make sure that we are inviting and open to all people, not just artists and creators. We should take every opportunity to interact with the community through our own events as well as city wide events.
I look forward to working with the Fairview Arts Council!
